Subject: "a word from an old man"
While cleaning my inbox of a mass over-load of old emails… I came across an email I wrote 5 years ago. It began with a powerful quote that read something like this:
Date: Thu, 16 Feb 2006 15:47:33 -0500 (EST)
”…so many people walk around with a meaningless life. They seem half-asleep, even when they’re busy doing things they think are important. This is because...

The Window Opens
After a week of hectic running around, not living in one place for more then 3 days and feeling an over-whelming anxiety about the future; a rush of good news hit me over the head. Selected as one of the finalist in the Mercedes- Benz Start-up Plan and will be presenting my collection in Montreal Wednesday (Aug. 10 and 11). This all came so sudden! But isn’t that how it always happens?
Just...

Concrete Contemplations
Concrete is such a versatile material; whether it’s building up a retaining wall, a foundation for a house or used for an industrial building - this material is not usually seen as creating beautiful pieces of beauty.
I guess what I’m saying is… materials (like concrete) can be transformed depending on the value the it is given. When you have a retaining wall, which is not...

SS'12 TRENDS TO WATCH
As an artist and designer, I feel that instincts and intuition play a huge role in forecasting trends for the next year. However, if you just do not have the innate ability, then I suggest keeping your eyes wide open for such trends as:
Shredding - now for the past two seasons we have seen shredded jerseys, jeans and imitations of shredding done with tassels. But, for the up coming seasons...

For me, fashion doesn’t always necessarily inspire fashion - although it does evoke feelings and ideas. Architecture and its materials always seem to inspire me most… however, I would rather think of the building materials in the ways of: how can I use this plastic material or at least the idea of 3D shapes into a garment? Or maybe it’s the repetition of the shapes and building...

papier mache - a very cute childrens magazine →
One of the hardest things I find about putting together a stunning trend forecasting presentation is, collecting the information and eye catching photos that are not totally out-dated. While researching kids trends for a freelance project i am working on, I hit the magazines to find anything that would inspire and give some hints of the trends to come for SS’12.
After sifting through...

The G-spot
Guelph. How did I get here? A city that sleeps… the streets are dead at 9pm! It’s been 3 weeks of aggy-central and I’m about to burst. Although I can’t complain too much I have been keeping myself busy. Biking has become my new stress reliever… it gives me a sense of adventure in a city that consists of cookie-cutter houses and bleach blonde mall-goers. Some days I...

Last day in a 5 yr Chapter
Today was my last day at NuMode Apparel, and what a special day it was.
Soon I head off to Italy to peruse a dream that I have been putting off for years and now seems like the perfect time to go. My heart is telling me this is the right time; to learn, to be inspired and to live the Italian life I was meant to live. It was hard to make the decision to leave a company that has taught me so...
